Anyone who’s followed us for even a short period of time knows that we love a good love story! We decided to kick off a new blog series featuring the engagement stories of our beloved clients, readers, and lovers from around the world. We’re so excited to present our Love Story series with a little local love, retired educator, current Fashion Education Consultant, Belinda McGuire, 62 and retired Army veteran Leonard Davis, 62 from Piscataway, NJ.
How did you and your Fiancé meet?
Leonard stalked me on Facebook. Finally, I questioned it. He said he liked what he saw in my profile. He asked for permission to contact me over messenger, and that was our first conversation.
How, when, and where did your Fiancé pop the question? Was it completely a surprise or were you expecting it?
Leonard popped the question on Christmas day… the first time. The ring had to be re-sized, so he proposed again at my daughter-in-law to-be’s birthday celebration. I was surprised when he got it back, because he didn’t let me know that he had gotten the ring back.
What is the first thing you did after saying “Yes”?
I kissed him. We are Chicago steppers. He turned on a romantic stepping song, and we danced in the living room.
What is one thing you look forward to THE MOST in your wedding planning process?
I’m a fashion designer also, so I look forward to designing my gown.
What is one thing that you look forward to THE LEAST in your wedding planning process?
Choosing who comes to the reception. I have a lot of family and friends. We don’t want to spend all of our money on that.
Help us wish Belinda and Leonard a happily ever after!!

Check local laws. Contact your community fire department to find out what types of fires, if any, are allowed. Some cities require permits for fire features. Others burn all open burning.
